XJTAG 4.3 Release brings FTDI Support – Faster Setup with Less Hardware
Version 4.3 of the XJTAG software suite has added support for FTDI’s JTAG controller hardware. Using FTDI devices, compatible boards can be connected directly via USB, giving full JTAG control and boundary scan testing without the need for an XJLink JTAG controller (so long as there is only one JTAG chain on the UUT).
Since many FPGA and CPU manufacturers are now fitting FTDI devices to their development boards for configuration and debug, having this support gives a quick way for engineers to get XJTAG running on new designs without requiring an XJLink. This also extends into production boards with FTDI devices fitted, allowing rapid programming and testing right on the production line with no external JTAG controller required.
